The Eaglebrook soccer team embarked on an unforgettable trip to Reykjavik, Iceland, where we had the luxury of competing against local Icelandic teams and experiencing the country’s natural beauty. The matches were intense and well-fought, both sides playing with incredible skill and determination, and most importantly, we proudly represented Eaglebrook. Despite our best efforts, we fell short and ultimately lost the game. However, the experience will never be forgotten by our fellow Brookies.
After our last game, we shared a fantastic dinner with the opposing team, where we bonded over great food and got to know each other. It was a unique experience to bond beyond the soccer field. Beyond the game, our time together in Iceland was filled with adventures. After long days of training and exploring, we indulged in some delicious meals. Icelandic cuisine was a pleasant surprise, ranging from mouthwatering chicken and pizza, which quickly became the team’s favorite.
The highlight for many of us was eating Icelandic bread baked in an underground geothermal hot spring. One of the most memorable parts of the trip was the Golden Circle tour, where we explored Iceland’s breathtaking landscapes, visited two waterfalls with multiple geysers, and had a closer look at the aurora lights at night. Even though it was cold at times, our laughter and energy brought warmth to the whole place. Lastly, we visited the Blue Lagoon, where we soaked in the rich, warm mineral water as we laughed while putting our face masks on to mark the perfect ending on our 8-day trip. Although we didn’t win on the field, the experience, the food, and the friendships we built along the way made our journey to Iceland truly unforgettable.
