Ultimate is a game closely related to football. Like football, it’s a team sport where seven people have different positions to move the frisbee up the field. When you have control of the frisbee, you can’t move around; you can only pass it to a fellow team member. The goal is to try to throw the frisbee around until it reaches the end zone.
Whenever the team scores, a point is added to the scoreboard. The game starts again when the team that scored throws the disc to the other team. The coaches make sure that every practice is productive and entertaining. We start our practices with a few laps and stretches, and then we warm up by either throwing with a partner or throwing at different lines to each other.
Both Varsity and JV practice together, which brings a wide variety of skills. This helps younger players gain more experience while also teaching the older players to be more patient. This team looks very promising this year. We have many returning players leading less experienced players, and the chemistry between the teams is excellent. With many games left in the season, the Ultimate team still has much to prove.
