This club was a new addition to the Eaglebrook club community last year. The club was created by Yuzu Emoto ’26 and Henry Lee ’26. At first, it was a small club consisting of 5-10 people. But this year, more people have signed up to join the club. The cooking club is a place for many people to gather and cook diverse dishes. Most of the time, students who know about the dishes share the origin or an interesting fact about them. This year, we have even added a new system of sending out a Google form to ask them about what we should cook, when we should meet, etc.
It is not only for others to experience and try unfamiliar foods, but also to learn the skills of cooking. Last year, we cooked chili, japchae, and more. All the members especially enjoyed the chili because even though we have been served the dish at the dining hall several times, it was great to experience the meticulous process of cooking it. While waiting for the food, we share our favorite music and have little talks. It was an enjoyable moment to take a rest and relax.
When we ate the food, we always shared our thoughts on the great taste, but also the beauty of working together. It felt even better because these dishes were made as a team, not alone. During cooking, we assigned each other some tasks that we could complete, which practiced the skills of listening and synergy. After cooking, we played fun games such as “Code Names”. This year, we have already hosted the Garlic Festival. The Garlic Festival had food trucks, vendors, and more. We hope to continue to host more off-campus trips and cook. We can’t wait to get back in the kitchen and show off our creativity!
