Our team consists of a large variety of students and talents from China, Singapore, Korea, Australia, the US, and more. We each have our strengths and weaknesses, which makes us a team that closely depends on one another.
Saxon Girodet ’25 is a star hitter, smashing the ball past the outfielders. Fischer Williams ’28 is a natural at the sport, rarely missing a pass as the first baseman. Rowan Muzzy ’25 has an eye on the field at all times, making calls and plays with relative ease to his teammates. These are merely a few shout-outs, of course. Every player on our team is adaptable and can play any position the coaches ask.
Our practices are enjoyable — we start with a jog around the large field, stretching and throwing in pairs. We do pushups when we miss a throw as a source of motivation to focus, spicing up the practice, and encouraging improvement. The coaches then perform soft tossing to a group, with the rest fielding. Sometimes, we play the game of 21, where the entire team has to make 21 plays without missing a single one. We have yet to succeed, but we won’t stop trying!
The coaches are what make the team so colorful. Ms. Thompson is the head coach and shares helpful improvement tips. She is always the first to say “It’s alright” when we make a mistake. Mr. McPhee and Cummings have a warm sense of humor and keep the sport enjoyable while helping with battling for position and ground balls. As the Sixth Formers leave for secondary school, we will forever cherish the moments we shared on Lower Upvall field during our last weeks on the Hill. Our athletes are: Christian Chandler ’27, Danny Chu ’26, James Chun ’25, Ryder Davis ’27, Saxon Girodet ’25, Chase Greene ’26, Joey Holland ’26, Alonso Jurado ’26, Sangwon Lee ’27, Luigi Murphy ’26, Rowan Muzzy ’25, Fischer Williams ’28, Rintaro Yokokawa ’27, Prescott Zee ’25, and Kyle Zhou ’25.
