As the weather warms up and the school year nears its final stretch, our Track & Field team is gearing up for an exciting new season. After months of off-season conditioning, athletes are ready to hit the ground running — literally — with high hopes for personal records, strong team performances, and memorable meets.
Led by our new head coach, Ms. Harnden, and a dedicated group of assistant coaches, this year’s team is larger and more competitive than ever. With a mix of returning Varsity athletes and promising new talent, the team is set to make a substantial impact in the league. Returning runners are expected to lead the way, bringing experience and energy to every meet. Meanwhile, Underformers have already shown impressive potential during their respective practices.
The season kicked off with a meet at NMH, where the team learned the basics of the meet. From baton rules to heat calls, a recently joined student had much to learn. The season continued with a challenging meet at Deerfield Academy, where numerous secondary schools from across the region gathered to compete. The event drew a highly competitive field, with many older and more experienced athletes, including some Eighth and Ninth graders who had been training year-round. From the start, it was clear the level of competition would be intense—fast heats, long throws, and high jumps set the tone for the day.
Despite the tough lineup, the Eaglebrook team showed remarkable resilience and determination. Rather than being intimidated by their competitors’ experience levels, the runners approached each event with focus and grit. Whether sprinting against taller opponents or competing in field events against seasoned athletes, they gave it their all. Several team members even achieved personal bests, proving that hard work and perseverance can go a long way. With plenty of meets on the schedule and a deep roster of talent, this season promises to be full of exciting moments.
