The 2024-2025 JV Track team has had a successful start to the season. The team had a meaningful first meet at NMH with the Varsity team, competing against NMH and Bement. Regardless of the results, all the teammates performed great and created many memorable moments. The team faced some trials and errors since it was the first meet, but everyone still did their best and showed a willingness to improve as athletes. The first meet was special for everyone; the bus ride to NMH was very exciting and energetic, and the pizza was also delicious. It was a meet that everyone was proud of.
The JV track practice is systematic and efficient. The team gathers at the turf field until 2:30 pm. We start with a 400-meter run and do our dynamic stretch to make our bodies comfortable and stable while running. After those stretches, the whole team does another 400-meter warm-up lab. After the warm-up lab, the practice the coaches chose begins. The practice typically runs with two separate groups: sprinting and distance. The sprinting group focuses on sprinting to achieve their optimal speed. The distance group runs for an extended period at a steady pace, usually following the Hilltop Farm route or the upper loop, which aids in controlling our pace and balancing our running. The team also trains for various field events, such as high jumping, long jumping, discus, and shot put. These events are practiced by individual groups, allowing athletes to concentrate on their specific main event. After practice concludes, we have a stretching period to prevent overexertion, and the practice session is officially over.
