Lacrosse, one of the fastest sports on the field, demands decisiveness and a consistent and diligent work ethic. And most importantly, grit — all of which the Varsity lacrosse team has demonstrated throughout this spring season of 2025. From tough practices to exciting matches, the team has worked hard to be in its best form on the field. A typical Varsity practice consists of three parts: warmup, technical work, and drills. As players arrive at the field, we prepare for the day by warming up with a lap around the turf, followed by dynamic stretching.
The technical part of practice varies based on lessons from recent games. Sometimes, we split into position groups to work on stick skills, while other times we come together as a team to focus on areas like clearing the ball and developing fast breaks into offensive plays. Practices typically end with fun drills such as 6v6 or the West Genny drill, which simulates 3v2 situations in games.
The Varsity lacrosse team has grown into a solid unit throughout the season, practice after practice. Although our first few games against Belmont Hill, Longmeadow, and Fessenden ended in losses, we secured our f irst win against NMH. Our latest game against Fessenden was one of our most exciting matches. Trailing 6–7, we felt a f ire ignite in our hearts, determined to seek revenge against a team we had lost to earlier in the season. However, in the fourth quarter, mistakes and penalties allowed Fessenden to extend their lead. Losing with a final score of 7–10 was heartbreaking, but with the steady improvement we’ve shown throughout the season, we have no doubt that more wins and revenge are on the horizon.
