An introduction to the play: “Beowulf… Sort Of” is a play adaptation of the classic Old English poem – Beowulf – written by Ms. Syers. It examines the poem through a story frame, where researchers and recordists attempt to understand the characters and why this story has endured in our culture for over a thousand years. We watch the epic battle between Beowulf and Grendel, and how it affects the lives of the Danes and Geats who live in the sphere of Grendel’s kidnapping influence. We see how Beowulf, a superhuman, kills and slays the two beasts – Grendel and his mother in a brutal fight. We also ask the question- why did Grendel eat the Danes and Geats? Was it out of malice, or just following his nature? Come see their epic clash in the fall play during Country Fair weekend! Watch our talented actors bring a fascinating play to life.
The play will be performed on Thursday, October 17, for the entire school (after dinner), and Friday, October 18, as part of the Country Fair Evening of the Arts.
