Eaglebrook has a significant number of clubs and activities. One opportunity that teaches club members more about both mechanical engineering and coding is the Robotics Club. Meeting as often as every day during the full-swing season, the club focuses on making a robot that can compete in the First Tech Challenge, a yearly competition where you compete against other robots to gain the most points. The club is still in the building phase because the competition’s routine has only recently been unveiled.
The club is preparing for two competitions during the winter. Though it seems more than enough, there isn’t much time to prepare due to the holidays and club members’ different commitments. Recently, the club watched an early competition to observe how other clubs face the problems posed by the new routine. Between the various designs of the intake, scoring mechanism, and linear slide, the club members are having fun building the robot and coming up with new ideas.
This club is not a so-called “technology geek” activity but rather a training for critical, logical thinking and jumping out of the box, in which participants are encouraged to exert their imagination to the greatest extent. The Robotics Club is always looking for new members, so if you’re interested, email Mr. Huang or simply join a meeting, usually held in the Robotics lab in Baines.
The club consists of: Allan C. ’26, Johnny C. ’27, Danny C. ’26, Leo F. ’25, Henry L. ’26, Nathan P. ’25, Dima P. ’25, Jason S. ’26, Manato T. ’25, Lucas W. ’27, William W. ’25, Alex X. ’25, Max Y. ’26, Edward Y. ’25, and Branden Z. ’25.
