Affinity Groups are vital aspects that highlight Eaglebrook’s diverse community. The Chinese Affinity group is one of those affinity groups, and it is open to everyone who associates with Chinese culture or heritage. The group aims to allow people who identify or relate to Chinese culture to feel at home through familiar practices and events. This year, the group has more than 40 members!
In recent years, the Chinese Affinity group has organized exciting events like making boba tea, taking trips off campus to eat Chinese food, and visiting Chinese markets. This year, the Chinese Affinity group aims to bring back traditions and add our own!
The first activity this year was the introduction of the Mid-Autumn Festival during a Morning Assembly on September 16th. Eric Z. ’25, William W. ’25, James L. ’25, and Prescott Z. ’25 shared the history and traditions of the Chinese holiday, including its origins. They combined their thoughts on how we would celebrate the Mid-Autumn festival at Eaglebrook. Members of the Chinese Affinity Group handed out mooncakes for snacks. Ms. Lien, the faculty in charge of the group, then hosted the first official outing, buying Halloween costumes! The group is looking forward to hosting more fun gatherings and outings in the future.
