On April 25th, students supervised by Mr. Minickiello and organized by Mr. Harlow had the opportunity to participate in the captivating Deerfield Math Competition, held at Deerfield Academy. This year, Eaglebrook fielded 4 distinct teams in the division, which had to contend with opponents from various schools, including Bement School and Cardigan Mountain School. After the introductions, all students participated in an Individual Round, competing individually. Congratulations to David Park ’27 for placing third, and to Geo Kim ’27 and Ted Tian ’28 for tying for fourth place in the individual divisions! Subsequently, the teams gathered and worked together to solve 8 problems in 45 minutes, following the Team General Round and the Team Guts Round. A majority of the teams performed decently in the General Round, with teams Eaglebrook 2, 3, and 4 tying for 4th place in their categories. In the guts round, teams had to turn in their answers and promptly receive a new set of questions, while administrators displayed the scores live on a projector, keeping the competition fast and continuous and creating a pressuring environment. We are pleased to announce that Team Eaglebrook 3 were fortunate enough to achieve second place in the Team Guts Round and third place in the Overall Team Standings! In the end, the competition concluded by inviting the best-performing students from each registered school and holding a contest to determine who would reach the pinnacle. This event seemed particularly amusing to the audience, as they relished their peers’ victory and cheered on the Eaglebrook competitors.
