What does wellness mean to you? I asked students and faculty in our Eaglebrook community to share their perspectives on wellness, and the answers I received varied widely, ranging from playing Clash Royale to enjoying good food. Different people will have different answers to the question, and it just depends on who you are.
The Oxford Dictionary defines wellness as “the state of being in good health, especially as an actively pursued goal.”
There are eight different aspects of wellness: spiritual, emotional, occupational, intellectual, environmental, financial, social, and physical. If you look around, you can see these aspects represented in our daily lives. For example, every day during Assembly, Mr. Chase leads us in meditation. To support our journey toward wellness, the wellness committee is exploring various ways to help us all. During the summer, we organize activities that foster inclusion and a sense of connectedness for new students joining us. We will soon have the Hilltop Ramble. On the ramble, let’s focus on appreciating the nature around us and reconnecting with it, rather than relying solely on our technology. This experience can improve your overall well-being. Be sure to make the most of your time while on your run or walk. As I have talked to people, I feel a very positive atmosphere about the Hilltop Ramble.
The Wellness Committee is dedicated to enhancing our student life and making it more impactful. We want all students to achieve stability in managing their time and resources, build confidence in their judgment, and experience tranquility. As you go about your daily life, be mindful of your wellness and don’t hesitate to reach out to a trusted adult if you need help.
