On the night of Saturday, September 27, students wore smiles brighter than the campfire that surrounded them as they crowded around the turf. Having fun with s’mores, churros, and lemonade in hand. Cheering loudly for their friends on the field who are competing for the grand prize of a target trip in an exciting game of capture the flag. This was the Capture the Flag event, organized on a Saturday night.
Hosted by the Weekend Planning Committee, the tournament was a resounding success, with over 70 people in attendance. There were 7 separate teams. After explaining the rules in the dining hall, the thrilled boys rushed down to the turf, getting ready to play under the bright lights.
The tournament began with two separate fields. There were no twists whatsoever; the team that captured the most flags within 10 minutes won the game. Every team played at least two games, and the two teams with the best results advanced to the final matchup, contending for the anticipated prize. The teams quickly gathered to formulate a game plan. As soon as the campfire, food, and cheerful music were set up, the games began.
Everyone was focused on their own team, and each of them was well organized. They followed our instructions and demonstrated great sportsmanship on the field. We had two referees for each game, but surprisingly, there was little need for them. We always had four teams playing on the turf, two on each side of the field, and the other three teams rested and enjoyed the delicious snacks. It was a night of fun, relaxation, and team competitions. Looking forward to future events like this!
