Lacrosse: widely regarded as the “fastest sport on two feet” requires not only physical agility but also unwavering discipline, sharp decision-making, and, above all, resilience. Throughout the 2026 lacrosse season, the Eaglebrook Varsity lacrosse team has fully embodied these qualities, growing not only as individual athletes but as a collective team.
While our athletes demonstrate their grit and techniques throughout games and practices, the pinnacle of our team lies in the chemistry. Whether facing tough opponents or battling through close games, the players constantly supported their teammates, lifting on another up in moments of pressure and celebrating individual success as a shared achievement.
Varsity practice often consists of 3 parts: Dynamic warm-up, technical skill work, and applied in practice; however, it varies based on our experience from recent games. When practice starts, the players assemble in two lines around the sideline as they prepare their bodies for the practice. The run transitions into a dynamic stretch, loosening muscles and awakening the body. Meanwhile, at the crease, the goalies break off for their own preparation, where Coach Bell and Coach Runk fire warm-up shots.
This is followed by technical drills: Stick work, defensive footwork, and shooting. For example, we often split into offense and defense, work independently on our skills and techniques, and later focus on specific areas such as ball clearing or developing offensive plays from fast breaks. After all, we end with a competitive 6v6 drill or a 3-on-2 situation practice.
Our first lacrosse game against Belmont Hill School came to an 8-10 loss. However, we advanced through an overtime win against Avon Old Farms (10-9) and exemplified dominance over Pomfret School by a score of 19-2. Furthermore, our win against Fessenden School demonstrated our resilience and team chemistry. Nonetheless, our recent game against Fessenden School came to a 9-10 overtime loss, but we showed “grit” through battling back from a 2-7 to nearly secure victory. As such, throughout our steady improvement this season, we have no doubt that our Lacrosse team will continue to achieve success and victories.
