At Eaglebrook, the JV2 soccer team practices Monday to Friday from 3:15 to 4:30 pm. Our practices start with a lap, followed by stretching with demonstrations from the Sixth Formers, and then we move into drills to enhance our footwork and passing. After that, we practice teamwork and communication by playing some games such as “Chaser.” This is a drill where everyone spreads out in the center circle and passes three to four balls clockwise or counterclockwise until the balls catch up to each other. The person responsible for allowing the balls to catch up runs a lap around the field. To conclude the session, we have a mini scrimmage.
So far, we have already had three games. We opened the season against Pioneer Valley Chinese Immersion School, starting the year with a 3-1 win despite having practiced only a few times before the game. Our second game was a shootout thriller against Frontier Regional School. After trailing 4-1, we mounted a comeback and scored goals, but fell short in the end. Our most recent game was against Cardigan Mountain School, which is always a close and exciting game. Despite poor weather conditions, the game was not canceled. After JV2 conceded a goal in the first half, the team scored three quick points right after halftime. That was enough to beat the Cardigan Cougars. The JV2 soccer team hopes to continue the season with determination and a growth mindset.
