This year’s Varsity tennis team consists of 8 talented players and two very supportive coaches, Mr. Townsend ‘88 and Mr. Parsons ‘16. The Varsity tennis team had an exciting start to the season, winning our first game against NMH School at Eaglebrook by 8-4. Later, we faced a strong Fessenden School team, resulting in a 6-6 tie. The next few games were against Deerfield Academy, Cardigan Mountain School, and Choate Rosemary Hall School. We had a win against Deerfield. However, we lost to Cardigan Mountain School and Choate Rosemary Hall School.
The loss did not prevent the team from having a strong spirit and camaraderie. Additionally, our team had good sportsmanship, demonstrating respect to the opponents. Our tennis practice begins with a team stretch, ensuring no injuries and warming up as a group. After warming up, we do various drills that target specific skills, which always help our team improve. For example, we have had doubles drills where we strengthen our skills with our doubles partner. We sometimes incorporate fun drills such as playing volleyball or a game called “Around the World.” We have done conditioning drills throughout the season, such as running to the Hilltop Farm. Moreover, we have done a challenge match once a week, where a player could challenge the player who is one place above them.
Overall, the 2025 Varsity tennis team is very strong and energetic. It consists of: Yuzu Emoto ’26, Frank Zhang ’26, Alex Xuanyi Li ’25, Dylan Kang ’25, Nikita Duncan ’25, Teddy Cashel ’25, Grant Fan ’25, and MacLean Hessler ’25.Yuzu
