The Eaglebrook Junior Varsity lacrosse team has been putting in extraordinary effort to get ready for our new season. Although we have had a solid start so far, we are trying to get better every single day.
Our typical practice starts with our head coach, Mr. Jack Faulstick, leading us into a lap around the field to get started, and then we quickly transition into our dynamic stretching. After we’re warmed up, the attacks and middies start a drill called the “Star Drill” while the long poles work on their long-distance passing. Then, the defenders work on their slides and positioning while the offensive players practice passing drills and fastbreaks. Near the end of practice, we focus on game-like drills, such as man-up offense or man-down defense, to make sure we are prepared for every situation.
Our first game started with a battle against Williston Northampton School. The game was tough, and we ended up losing 7-3. However, even though we lost, playing together helped us improve a lot over the next week. We really cleaned up our defensive spots and got our offensive plays down.
Our second game against Renbrook School was awesome. It was a dramatic comeback win, and the final score was 3-2! Our three goals came from Lane Fuller ‘27, Austin Barnhill ‘27, and Chris Newson ‘28. Our goalie, Ryan Hur ‘27, played a world-class game that day and had some insane saves that kept us in it, and he was definitely the MVP of the game. Our next game is on May 1st against Rumsey Hall. After that big win, we have all the confidence in the world that we can beat them. As long as we play our hearts out in every game and practice, I know Eaglebrook JV lacrosse is going to have one heck of a season!
