Baseball is a passion for many of our Eaglebrook classmates. They always strive to get better, and the team comes prepared to play and eager to improve.
The Varsity baseball team consists of 13 players, each with specific roles based on their skills: Jonathan Bones ’27, Tyler Crean ’27, Brody Cross ’26, Collin Galli ’27, Jaden Godette ’27, Chase Greene ’26, Sam Hunter ’26, Shelby Jackson ’28, Jaxson Kilimonis ’27, Cole Systo ’29, Jake Thompson ’26, Fischer Williams ’28, and Rintaro Yokokawa ’27. We also have dedicated coaches, Mr. Ejaaz Jiu, Mr. Miles Harlow, and Mr. Mike Pieroni, who work hard to support and develop our players.
For practices from 3:15 to 4:30, we normally start with dynamic stretches, such as band work and leg stretches. After that, we warm up our arms by throwing, showing our commitment to improvement. We usually throw for about 5-10 minutes, then we bring it in to the coaches for the games of the week. Then we can grab our bats, and some kids hit while others play in the field. What also makes the practices even more enthusiastic is playing “21 outs”. 21 outs is a game that the whole team plays without making errors. If you do, we must restart at zero.
We have tons of energy for games. Not only from the 9 positions on the field, but also from bench energy, which hypes the team up and brings it to its full potential.
The first game of the season against Amherst Koufax ended in a blowout win, 12-0, and we continued our win streak. We also had a thriller game on Sunday, April 26, against Powerhouse Bulldogs. It was a great matchup, and the final score was 10-9.
Nearing the mid-point of the season, the team still has a long way to go in practices. Even though we have an amazing record so far, we need to keep up the pace and continue working together to progress. Our toughness has brought us to a 7-2 record. The team will try to win the remaining games and keep progressing.
