The student council is an elected group of Sixth Formers who are chosen by their peers to represent the student body. This year’s council members consist of Anderson Aihie ’27, Derek Kang ’27, Sungbin Lim ’27, Finn Matheson ’27, Chase Quebec ’27, Enhua Liu ’27, Austin Yeung ’27, Dante Guerra ’27, David Park ’27, Anthony Zhao ’27, and Jaden Godette ’27.
The student council works alongside Ms. Blain to ensure students’ voices are heard and ideas become reality. The student council has organized many informal Fridays, pop-up stores around the year, and many fun and creative weekend activities that have given students lots of fun. This year’s student council is planning to host many fun activities, as well as another pop-up store. We also contribute to the school in many different ways. For example, October 1st is Cancer Awareness Day, also known as Pink Day. The student council, teaming up with Ms. Pleasant, is going to celebrate and host this day by having the whole school wear pink for one day. We made announcements and created posters to stick around the school to raise awareness.
The council meets every Tuesday after classes, but will periodically have meetings throughout the week. We are also very involved in the Eaglebrook community, not only by hosting events and celebrations, but also by serving as club/committee leaders, sports captains, etc. Often, you see many of us working with faculty and students or trying to make a genuine, positive impact on the school community.
The student council’s main goal is to improve the community and ensure that every individual student feels they belong and matter. We do this through hearing out fellow students’ ideas by checking in with students and even faculty from time to time. We strive to strengthen the brotherhood of Eaglebrook and ensure that all students’ ideas are heard. However, oftentimes students overlook how much control we truly have over the school. We hope the students understand that we deeply and truly care about every single one of them and their ideas, but some can’t be brought to life; still, we work very hard to do the best we can.
