This summer, the Sixth Formers took on a very early leadership role in contributing to the new Eaglebrook community. Many participated in the Summer Welcome sessions, a series of three online meetings in which Sixth Formers and faculty members introduced new students to life at Eaglebrook. They touched on topics like school traditions, sports, what to pack, and other aspects of the community and day-to-day life. These meetings were around an hour long, with times that were perfect for both U.S. and international students, so that all could participate.
The Sixth Formers in these meetings did fantastically. They came from diverse backgrounds and experiences at Eaglebrook, so they were able to draw on the school’s knowledge, community, and programs to provide the best possible start for the new students. Everyone tried their best to be as simple and understandable as possible, providing clear and useful information.
On the other hand, the new students listened very carefully to what the Sixth Formers had to say and were committed to attending these meetings. It was great to see the attention they paid to listening to the sixth formers and the thoughtful questions they asked afterward.
However, these meetings would not have been possible without the involvement of all the faculty. They worked hard to prepare all the meeting topics to ensure a well-structured agenda and cover as much information as possible. In short, these summer welcome meetings worked very well, and we thank everyone who helped.
