JV football is a team for players who are just starting their football careers or are still inexperienced or young for the Varsity team. Our practice starts with the Varsity football team, when we do our dynamic warm-ups: jogs (1 lap), scoops, lunge and twists, High Knees, T stretch, Frankensteins, open and close the gates, sumos, marios, karaoke, striders, back pedal, and then sprint.
After this, my personal favorite part of the warm-up is our one perfect jumping jack. We line up in the dynamic lines and do one jumping jack at the same time. Our goal with these exercises is to warm up and be ready to act as a team.
Then, we break into different teams, and JV starts some drills. Depending on the day, we run offensive drills or defensive drills. For most of the practice, we do drills with other people in the same playing position. On JV, some of us need to learn how to tackle, which is one of the most important drills we practice.
At the end of practice, we usually learn plays or run a small scrimmage. This is important so we can see what we need to work on and practice the skills that we learned. Our first game is on October 10, and we will give it our all. We are preparing very well, thanks to our coaches, Mr. Jiu, Mr. Lee, Mr. Joseph, and Mr. Bell.
