The Eaglebrook Copley Library is a central part of life here on campus, offering a safe space for students to expand their love of reading and discovery. Our mission is simple: to give Eaglebrook students the opportunity to learn, explore, and grow through the books and resources the library provides. The library is used in a variety of ways, whether for research, to check out books, or to offer a quiet place to focus during the weekend activity periods. The library is rarely empty, and its role in the community still remains strong.
The Library Committee meets every other Monday to discuss and plan upcoming events. These events can range from movie nights to National School Library Month celebrations. Our work supports the ongoing operations that keep the library running smoothly, something only made possible by the invaluable work of our librarian, Ms. Meiers.
Recently, we held several Book-to-Film movie nights and a Book Face Contest here at the library. These events help inspire a love for reading while also strengthening students’ connections to this shared space we cherish as the library. On April 18th, the library celebrated National School Library Month, honoring libraries around the country. The celebration featured cake furnished with images from the Bookface Contest along with refreshments.
Being on the Library Committee has given me a completely new perspective on the library, helping me appreciate, understand, and engage with the work that goes on behind the scenes. While the library might be seen as a quiet, communal space, it is actually the result of careful planning and collaboration between the committee and our librarian, Ms. Meiers.
The Committee itself is a genuine joy to be a part of, from the love and care Ms. Meiers puts into the space to the friendliness of the committee members. Being a member does not feel like a burden or a “committee” in a traditional sense. Instead, it feels like a separate community brought together by our shared appreciation for the space.
Library Committee members are really invested in the library. They like it because it offers so many books to “escape from reality.” They also like the positive atmosphere it creates. There is no reason not to visit the library regularly. You are always welcome to come check out a book or participate in the library committee’s events. There is also always student artwork featured the moment you walk in. You can also stop by for a Jolly Rancher, the community’s favorite. So come in and get involved. Join the library committee and brainstorm ideas for the next event. Throughout the year, the library has offered a wide range of activities for all students to enjoy. The library committee is proud of all we accomplished this year and looks forward to new events and activities next year.
