With the school year on the Hill commencing, we are honored to welcome one of our new faculty members, Mr. Chatson! He is currently teaching the following classes throughout the trimester: Foundational Art, Drawing and Painting, and Mixed Media. Mr. Chatson is also serving as a vital water polo coach, specifically instructing the team’s goalies in rigorous training sessions. Additionally, he is expecting to coach one of the squash teams in the winter season, but has yet to determine a spring sport. Inside the dormitories, Mr. Chatson works as an advisor at Eagles Nest, yet resides in one of the recently constructed apartments at Halsted.

The principal factor in Mr. Chatson’s decision to come to Eaglebrook was his experience tutoring students during a summer program at Loomis Chaffee. As a Loomis alum, he has frequently encountered the cordial, hospitable environment of a boarding school and has been devoted to teaching teenagers subjects he prefers. He perceived his occupation as an “opportunity for [his students] to grow” and to explore distinctive features of subjects that weren’t available elsewhere. So far at Eaglebrook, he has identified a multitude of highlights that remain remarkable in his memory, one of them being his classes held outdoors on the patio outside the Art Studio, where students could relish the mesmerizing beauty of nature. Mr. Chatson is especially fond of the inherently formed bond between students and his colleagues.
In anticipation of the upcoming academic year, Mr. Chatson looks forward to collaborating with various students during a Ceramics WEA session and aspires to create intricate clay structures using aesthetically pleasing techniques. Additionally, he expressed plans to host a canoe trip with various faculty members to explore diverse oceanic environments during the school year.
