Out of all the traditions at Eaglebrook, Country Fair is one of the oldest and most anticipated traditions, dating back to 1942. Country Fair is a time when Eaglebrook comes together as a community and organizes an event that everyone, from students to their parents, can enjoy. Country Fair is essentially an event similar to New England-style fairs. Each advisee group prepares its own stall, featuring activities or food. This preparation begins a week before Country Fair, as students design posters and start building their activities during the advisor meetings.
On the day of Country Fair, parents arrive in the morning and gather in the Assembly Area for the student council president’s Assembly. This year, Anderson Aihie ’27 is giving the Assembly.
After the Assembly, student, along with their parents, head to 25-minute classes. Students have the chance to present their work so far to their parents in class through presentations or fun activities, in both academic and elective subjects. After classes, students and their families head to the dining hall for a buffet lunch. In the afternoon, students spend time with their families and can give them a tour of the Eaglebrook campus.
Then, at 2:30, the Jazz Band performs on the gym steps, commencing the start of Country Fair. After the performance, students and their families are free to explore the various booths offered on Memorial Field. These stands feature activities such as obstacle courses and sliding Cholula bottles, as well as foods like bubble tea and yakisoba. The next day, parents attend parent-teacher conferences and, in the afternoon, watch their child play a game in their child’s sport. After sports, students can depart with their parents for the weekend. This year, all the students are excited about the arrival of the Country Fair.
